Job Description
Environmental Yard Technician

- Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
- Oversee inspections for our yard equipment (forklift) and commercial vehicles (including coning and chocking trucks)
- Offload trucks (using pallet jacks, using forklifts, by hand if necessary)
- Load our drivers’ trucks with supplies necessary for service based on job quotes or prior job knowledge
- Check/mark/inspect our chemical storage area for proper hazard communication, leaks, proper container closure, spill containment
- Help administrative staff with sorting and filing documents, or running supplies
- Putting away deliveries both in and outside of the office
- Clean/sweep the yard and the office
- Report and correct any unsafe tasks or conditions (salt the concrete during icy conditions, ensure we are following the conditions outlined in our stormwater pollution prevention plan, etc)
- Collect and deliver stormwater collection samples
- Deliver paperwork or supplies to customers as needed
- Check and count inventory (once per week)
- Organize our supply tent area and other supply storage areas
- Inspect site safety equipment (first aid kits, spill kits, eyewash stations)
- Organize, weigh, mark waste containers in our warehouse
- Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
- Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Valid Driver’s license
- Strong customer service skills
- Perform physical functions per job requirements
- Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position
- Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.
- Waste Disposal – Comprehensive disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste at Company-owned facilities
- Recycling Services – Extensive recycling, reuse and reclamation options for materials such as solvents, chemicals, oil and electrical equipment
- Chemical Packing – Safe, efficient handling and disposal of the widest range of chemicals, including reactives and compressed gases
- Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Services – HHW collection programs of all types and sizes, facilitated by Clean Harbors expert personnel
