Engineering Casting Technician – Process Control (Titanium Investment Castings)

Primary Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Senior Engineering Manager the Engineering Casting Technician will be responsible for supporting process improvements and procedure development in titanium investment casting operations. The technician will collaborate closely with VAR (Vacuum Arc Remelting) furnace operators and engineering teams to enhance casting processes, improve production efficiency, and ensure the highest quality standards are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be accountable for working safely by following all safety rules and safe work practices.
- Collaborate with VAR furnace operators to understand current processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and document procedures to optimize casting processes, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality standards.
- Support the implementation of process improvements, working with engineering and production teams to test and validate changes.
- Assist in the training of operators on new procedures and best practices, ensuring smooth integration into daily operations.
- Monitor process performance and gather data to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented improvements.
- Work closely with quality teams to address any issues related to casting defects, identifying root causes and proposing corrective actions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to enhance overall production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Maintain accurate records of process changes, improvement initiatives, and their outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-driven and highly motivated, ability to organize and schedule work effectively, meeting timeline and schedule requirements.
- Basic understanding of metal casting processes, ideally for titanium alloys.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies, such as lean manufacturing or Six Sigma.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Able to work well as a team with production employees, supervisors, managers, and customers.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background check.
- Must be willing to participate in pre-employment drug screening.
Preferred:
- B.S. in related engineering field
- 2+ years experience in a titanium aerospace casting environment.
- Certification in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or a similar process improvement discipline.
Working Conditions:
- Industrial/manufacturing environment with exposure to high temperatures.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., standing for long periods, and performing repetitive tasks.

- Day Shift (Monday-Friday)
